Ross founded Leading Green in 2017 with the desire to help business leaders and organisations integrate sustainability into their strategies and operations. He has over 30 years’ experience in corporate environmental affairs, having built and led environmental teams in support of corporate services, asset management & infrastructure delivery within ScottishPower, Welsh Water and the UK Government’s Environment Agency.

He has had environmental oversight across £40 billion worth of infrastructure investment projects, as well as successfully leading ISO14001 programmes within utilities. At ScottishPower he created two corporate environmental teams (Manweb and SP Power Systems) who become the first UK energy utilities to hold ISO 14001. He has won major CSR awards such as ACCA (+ Runner-up & Short listed 3 times); Business in the Environment (BiE) Top 25 CSR Reporters; Footsie4Good entry and the FTSE/Dow Jones 350 (2nd place), and his teams have won a multitude of environmental & engineering infrastructure awards along the way.

He is a Visiting Professor in Civil & Environmental Engineering at Strathclyde University (Scotland) and an adviser, lecturer and PhD/MSc mentor at several other universities. He is a past President of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA); a former director of IEMA (the UK professional environmental body), and a past corporate representative on the UK Electricity Association’s Environmental Briefing Panel and the CBI Environmental Committee.

He is a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and one of the first to be granted Fellowship by IEMA. He has published over 60 peer reviewed articles on environmental management, EIA & infrastructure delivery, and regulatory affairs issues and has contributed chapters to several books. He is a well-known international Keynote Speaker on sustainability and EIA topics.

He has worked internationally on consultancy projects for the World Bank, UNEP and with various national Government Agencies and Universities in China (inc Hong Kong), South America, South Korea, Azerbaijan, South Africa, Europe and in North America on organisational change, environmental capacity building & training programmes.

James Marshall is the founder of Talking Ape, one of the UK’s highest regarded Learning and Development consultancies. He is qualified in NEO PI-R, NLP, SDI, DISC and PRISM brain mapping, and has led leadership communication and management development skills coaching & development programmes within Apple, Google, Sky, RBS, Freshfields and Barclays.

James supports Leading Green in designing leadership programmes that help set the right balance between people and results - focused on the real world of the organisation, leading to real behavioural and mindset changes towards sustainability leadership.

 

Thomas Enright

Thomas Enright MBA, CEnv is a well regarded sustainable business consultant with over twenty years senior management experience in the utilities sector. He was most previously Head of Corporate Responsibility at Affinity Water.

With a strong engineering and construction background, he has a wealth of leadership and operational experience across programme management, capital delivery, business improvement, sustainability, safety leadership and CSR.
